Abstract

Abrasive Jet Machining (AJM) is the material removal process from a workpiece by using high speed stream of abrasive particles carried in a gas medium from a nozzle. The material removal is mainly by erosion.

Abstract

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are widely distributed Gram-negative oxygenic photosynthetic prokaryotes with a long evolutionary history. They have been proved as potential candidate for food, fuel, pharmaceuticals and environmental problems. Cyanobacteria are the richest source for production of nitrogenous substances. The cyanobacterial strains were isolated from Pune and nearby region (Western ghat, India). The biomass of isolated strains was studied for total free amino acids production. Among different cyanobacterial strains studied, the strain of Phormidium fragile and Lyngbya majuscula produced total free amino acids in appreciable amount. The biomass of cyanobacterial strains were treated with various concentrations and sources of nitrate and with 1% sucrose and glucose in BG11 nutrient medium. The biomass obtained under different treatments was analyzed for free amino acids using HPLC amino acid analyser.

Abstract

In this article, discrete sine transforms interpolation approach is presented for designing a digital fractional order differentiator i.e. (DST-II).First described the definition of fractional differentiation. Then, DST based interpolation method i.e (DST-II) is applied to compute the fractional differentiation of a given digital signal to obtain the transfer function of proposed method i.e. fractional order digital differentiator by using index mapping method. Finally some numerical problems show their effectiveness of the proposed DST-II method as compared to Radial Basis function and Improved design of digital fractional-order differentiators using fractional sample delay.

Abstract

For many, nanotechnology is viewed as merely a way to make stronger and lighter tennis rackets, baseball bats, hockey sticks, racing bikes, and other athletic equipment. But nanotechnology promises to do so much more. A more realistic view is that it will leave virtually no aspect of life untouched and is expected to be in widespread use by 2020. Mass applications are likely to have great impact particularly in industry, medicine, new computing systems, and sustainability. Here are some underlying trends to look for, many interconnected, and all expected to continue to accelerate. "One of the most important issues related to nanotechnology is systems integration and packaging. ....how do we integrate these building blocks in a rational manner to make a functional device or a system? This step requires design based on the understanding of nanoscale science, and on new manufacturing techniques. .... Assembling large quantities of nanostructures in a rational and rapid manner requires tooling, imaging systems, instrumentation, sensors, and control systems. After nanostructures are assembled into functional devices, they need to be packaged so that they can interact with their environment and yet retain the nanoness that provides the unique function and performance. These concerns are similar to those found in conventional manufacturing, though there is a call for a level of precision that is not required by macroscale designers."

Abstract

Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is one of the commercially important fruit crops of tropical world. It is one of the choicest fruit all over the world because of its pleasant taste and flavor. Total pineapple production worldwide is around 16 to 18 million tons. Nearly 70% of the pineapple is consumed as fresh fruit in producing countries. India is the fifth largest producer of pineapple with an annual output of about 1.2 million tones. To increase the shelf life of pineapples, different preservation techniques are being employed. However, the success of those methods was osmo-air dehydration. It is a useful preservation technique for the production of safe, stable, nutritious, tasty, economical and concentrated food obtained by placing the solid food, whole or in pieces in sugar aqueous solution.

Abstract

Seismic tremors are occurringquite often now a day. The seismic analysis and the design of building havetraditionallyfocused on decreasing danger to life in the highest expected earthquake. To decrease the impacts brought on by these tremors and wind loads lateral load resistance systems are introduced in the structures. Shear walls are one of the lateral loading systems commonly used in high rise buildings upto 30 stories. Position of shear walls in unsymmetrical structures has been given due consideration.
