Abstract

Because of the low sensitivity of sputum smears and the delay in cultures (2–4 weeks for a result), a variety of new technologies have been developed for the more rapid and sensitive detection of PTB. At present, the use of these techniques is the subject of much debate. New diagnostic techniques in can be broadly divided into two parts 1)Techniques for diagnosis of TB infection. 2)Techniques for the diagnosis of TB disease.
