Abstract

Mature embryo of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotype Hindi 62 was aseptically cultured on MS medium supplemented with combinations of 2,4-D and kinetin to induce callusing. The treatment 2,4-D + kinetin (10+0) proved to be better in terms of earliest days to callus induction and callus growth and this protocol combination along with 0% PEG, 10% PEg and 20% PEG was applied on ten genotypes of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) viz., Hindi 62, Raj 3077, Kailash, PBN 151, C 306, Raj 3765, Kalyan Sona, K 9708, GW 190 and HD 2329 for selection of PEG- 6000 induces drought tolerant callus lines of wheat.
