Abstract

The food that we consume to stay alive and healthy is a serious health hazard, when it contains chemical residues as a result of indiscrete use of pesticides. Pesticides play a significant role in food production as they help protect crops against insects, weeds, fungi and other pests. They protect or increase yields and the number of times per year a crop can be grown on the same land. This is particularly important for countries that face food shortages but at the same time pesticides remain in the food we consume as chemical residues.
